SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR COACHING CENTERS:2024

1. What are the infrastructure requirements for student safety in coaching centers?
Coaching centers must allocate a minimum of one square meter per student during classes, ensuring that the infrastructure is sufficient for the number of students enrolled. The buildings should also comply with fire safety and building safety codes and have the necessary certificates from relevant authorities.

2. How should coaching centers ensure fire and building safety?
The centers must adhere to all fire and building safety regulations. This includes obtaining a Fire and Building Safety Certificate and implementing measures such as fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and proper signage. Regular safety drills should also be conducted to prepare students and staff for emergencies.

3. What medical facilities should coaching centers provide?
Coaching centers must have a first aid kit and access to medical assistance or treatment facilities. They should display a list of emergency services, including nearby hospitals, doctors, police, fire services, and helplines. Students and staff should be informed about these resources.

4. What are the requirements for the physical environment of coaching centers?
The buildings must be fully electrified, well-ventilated, and have adequate lighting in each classroom. Safe and potable drinking water must be available for all students and staff. The facilities should also include separate toilets for males and females.

5. How do coaching centers maintain security and surveillance?
Centers may be equipped with CCTV cameras in necessary areas to enhance security. A well-maintained security system is crucial to ensure the safety of students and staff within the premises.

6. What measures are in place for handling complaints and grievances?
Coaching centers should provide a complaint box or register for students to report issues. Additionally, they must establish a committee responsible for addressing and resolving complaints or grievances.

7. What provisions are there for ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment?
Besides adhering to safety and infrastructure standards, coaching centers should foster a supportive environment by maintaining cleanliness, ensuring sufficient space, and facilitating an atmosphere conducive to learning. They should also implement policies and protocols to handle emergencies and maintain student well-being.
