INS Varsha is being developed at Rambilli, which is approximately 50 km from Visakhapatnam, the headquarters of the Eastern Naval Command.

3. What strategic advantages does INS Varsha offer?
Project Varsha’s location on the Eastern Coast provides India with a significant strategic advantage. It positions the navy closer to critical shipping lanes of the Indo-Pacific, enabling a swift response to potential threats. The proximity to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) also facilitates close collaboration between the Indian Navy and the country’s nuclear establishment.

4. How will INS Varsha enhance India’s naval capabilities?
The completion of Project Varsha will significantly bolster India’s naval deterrence capabilities. The base will enable the deployment of nuclear-armed submarines from a secure, underground facility, strengthening India’s position in the Indian Ocean region.

5. What is the distance between Visakhapatnam and INS Varsha?
INS Varsha is located within a radius of approximately 200 km (124.27 miles) from Visakhapatnam, but the base itself is specifically being developed at Rambilli, 50 km from Visakhapatnam.
