INDIAN AIR FORCE'S TARANG SHAKTI EXERCISE
**1. What is Tarang Shakti?**
Tarang Shakti is the largest multilateral exercise hosted by the Indian Air Force (IAF). It involves participation from multiple countries and includes a significant display of air assets from both the IAF and foreign nations.
**2. When will Tarang Shakti take place?**
The exercise will occur in two phases: the first from August 6-14, 2024, and the second from September 1-14, 2024.
**3. Where is the exercise being held?**
Phase-1 of Tarang Shakti will be conducted at Sulur in Tamil Nadu, while Phase-2 will take place at Jodhpur.
**4. How many countries are participating?**
Eighteen countries are participating, with ten of these bringing their air assets. Additional countries will join as observers, and an invitation has been extended to 51 countries in total.

The exercise aims to foster interoperability among participating nations, share best practices in air operations, and showcase the capabilities of the indigenous defence industry.

In Phase-1, countries like Germany, France, Spain, and the U.K. will participate with their air assets. In Phase-2, countries such as Australia, Bangladesh, Greece, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the U.S. will bring their air assets.

The exercise will feature a mix of fighters, refuelling aircraft, airborne early warning aircraft, and C-130 Special Forces aircraft from participating countries. The Indian Navy will also contribute with its MiG-29K carrier borne fighters during Phase-1.

The split into two phases accommodates the diverse participation and logistical requirements of friendly foreign countries. It also aligns with participants' schedules, allowing those involved in other international exercises, like Pitch Black in Australia, to join.
