Strengthening Ties in Space Sector

Strengthening ties between India and the US in the space sector has the potential to lead to large-scale missions to the Moon and even a joint lunar observatory in the future. These ambitions require the highest levels of support, which is clearly coming from the leadership in both nations.

Joint Missions and Collaborations

Several joint missions have been confirmed, including:

• NISAR Mission: A cooperative Earth observation mission.
• Astronaut Training: Two Indian astronauts are being trained at NASA facilities for an upcoming flight to the International Space Station.
• Artemis Accords: Prospective collaboration on missions to the Moon.

Future Goals

• Space Station by 2035: ISRO has a mandate to build a space station.
• Human Moon Landing by 2040: Plans to land a human on the Moon.

Private Industry Cooperation

• GSAT 20 Communication Satellites: SpaceX is preparing to launch these satellites.
• Talks with Private Companies: ISRO is in discussions with companies like Boeing for future launches.
• Privatization of LVM3 Production: Announced by NewSpace India Limited to reduce costs and make launch vehicles more accessible globally.

• Gaganyaan Cargo Module: Potential for cargo transfer to the International Space Station.
• QUAD Satellite Project: A partnership project benefiting multiple countries.
