The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, commemorating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, has launched numerous initiatives focusing on the holistic development of agriculture and farmer welfare. These schemes aim to enhance farmer income, promote sustainable practices, and ensure environmental harmony. Key initiatives include:
1. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN): A landmark scheme providing ₹6000 per year to landholding farmers’ families through direct benefit transfer, benefitting over 11 crore beneficiaries.
2. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY): This crop insurance scheme provides comprehensive coverage against natural calamities, with over 5549.40 lakh farmer applications insured since its inception.
3. Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF): Aimed at enhancing post-harvest management infrastructure, it has sanctioned ₹33.209 Crores for 44,912 projects, mobilizing an investment of ₹56.471 Crores.
4. Formation & Promotion of 10,000 FPOs: With a budget of ₹6865 crores, this scheme supports Farmer Producer Organizations to increase farmers’ bargaining power and cooperation.
5. National Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM): Launched to promote beekeeping and contribute to ecological balance, it includes initiatives like the Madhukranti portal.
6. Crop Residue Management Scheme: Addresses air pollution from burning crop residue by promoting farm machinery banks and in-situ management practices.
7. Namo Drone Didi Scheme: Encourages the use of drones by women self-help groups for precision farming, minimizing resource usage.
8. Centrally Sponsored Schemes like RKVY-DPR: Supports agricultural startups and funds innovation in agriculture.
9. Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme: Provides farmers with soil health information, encouraging sustainable and precise fertilizer use.
10. Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH): A comprehensive scheme covering various aspects of horticulture to enhance farmer income and green cover.
11. Krishonnati Yojana Umbrella Schemes: Such as NFSM, SMSP, and NMEO-Oil Palm, address diverse agricultural needs from food security to quality seed promotion.
12. Digital Agriculture: Aims to develop digital infrastructure for agriculture, fostering AgriTech growth and offering inclusive, farmer-centric solutions.
These schemes collectively promote a vision of an agriculturally self-reliant and ecologically balanced India, focusing on financial inclusivity, technological adoption, and the sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
