The fatality rate can be high, ranging from 55% to 85%, with death typically occurring within 48 hours of symptom onset.
How is CHPV treated?
There is no specific antidote or antiviral treatment for CHPV. Treatment focuses on supportive care to manage symptoms and maintain bodily functions.

Prevention involves controlling vector populations and improving hygiene, nutrition, and health awareness in affected areas.
What is the current status of the outbreak?
The current outbreak in Gujarat has reported 137 suspected AES cases and 56 deaths. Similar cases have been reported in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
