The ‘Adopt a Heritage’ program, launched by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, encourages corporate stakeholders to use their CSR funds to enhance historically-important monuments. This initiative promotes responsible tourism, improves visitor amenities, and contributes to heritage conservation.

Monuments Adopted Under the Program:

Examples of monuments under the 'Adopt a Heritage' program include:

Qutub Minar, New Delhi: Adopted by ONGC, facilities, interpretation centers, and illumination were developed.

Recent Updates - 'Adopt a Heritage 2.0':

The revamped 'Adopt a Heritage 2.0' program offers greater flexibility to companies, allowing them to adopt entire monuments or specific amenities. A leaner management structure and clearer guidelines for semi-commercial activities have been introduced. The e-permission portal streamlines approvals for photography, filming, and development initiatives. The goal is to increase corporate engagement and utilize CSR funds for heritage conservation.

Indian Heritage App:

The Indian Heritage app serves as a comprehensive guide to ASI-monitored monuments. It provides information, pictures, facility details, and geo-tagged locations, helping visitors explore India's cultural heritage.

E-Permission Portal:

The e-permission portal simplifies acquiring approvals for photography, filming, and developmental initiatives related to heritage sites. It aims to make the process efficient and accessible for individuals and organizations engaging with heritage monuments.

Objective of 'Adopt a Heritage' Program:

The primary aim of the 'Adopt a Heritage' program is to encourage corporate contributions to the conservation, preservation, and promotion of India's historical monuments. Through CSR funds, companies can enhance visitor facilities, infrastructure, and amenities, promoting responsible tourism and ensuring the sustainability of cultural heritage.
