  • Kartarpur pact: India and Pakistan signed an agreement to operationalise the Kartarpur corridor that will facilitate pilgrims from India to visit the Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan.
  • The agreement is valid initially for five years. India will hand over the list of pilgrims to Pakistan 10 days in advance and those granted permission to go may be informed only four days before the proposed date of travel.
  • 3 PoK terror camps destroyed: Taken retaliatory action against four terror camps along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir, destroying at least three. This followed definitive information of terrorists attempting infiltration from camps in the Tangdhar and Keran sectors.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India would put to use its share of water from the rivers flowing to Pakistan and ensure that every single drop was used for the country’s farmers.
  • Climate change: To better gauge the impact of climate change on the Hindu Kush mountains, which includes the Himalayas, and spruce up data-gathering, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) will collaborate with meteorological agencies in China and Pakistan, among others, to provide climate forecast services to countries in the region.
  • Pakistanis visiting India: There has been a sharp decline in the number of Pakistanis visiting India in the past three years, according to the annual report of the Union Home Ministry.From 1,04,720 in 2016, the number fell to 57,283 in the whole of 2018 and the first three months of 2019. In 2017, it was 67,350, the report said.
