Well done! Your Answer is correct.
The ease of doing business index is an index created by the World Bank Group. Higher rankings (a low numerical value) indicate better, usually simpler, regulations for businesses and stronger protections of property rights. Empirical research funded by the World Bank to justify their work show that the economic growth impact of improving these regulations is strong.

Question : Consider the following about ‘Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act 1971’:
1. Under MTP Act, 1971 Abortion in India is legal only up to twenty weeks of pregnancy under specific conditions and situations.
2. Pregnancy can also be terminated if it is “alleged by the pregnant woman to have been caused by rape”.
Select the correct answer using the codes given below.
Both 1 and 2
Neither 1 nor 2
Well done! Your Answer is correct.
In news: The case of a 10-year-old rape victim seeking the court permission to abort has once again brought to the forefront the issue of the need for a comprehensive law on Medical Termination of Pregnancy.
The draft Medical Termination of Pregnancy (Amendment) Bill, 2014, provides for abortion beyond 20 weeks under defined conditions. As per the draft law, a healthcare provider may, “in good faith”, decide to allow abortion between 20 and 24 weeks if, among other conditions, the pregnancy involves substantial risks to the mother or child, or if it is “alleged by the pregnant woman to have been caused by rape”.
The draft law also takes into account the reality of a massive shortage of both doctors and trained midwives, and seeks to allow Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha practitioners to carry out abortions, albeit only through medical means, and not surgical ones.
The draft legislation recognises that the anguish caused by pregnancy resulting from rape “may be presumed to constitute a grave injury to the mental health of the pregnant woman”, and that such an injury could be a ground for allowing abortion.
Under MTP Act, 1971 Abortion in India is legal only up to twenty weeks of pregnancy under specific conditions and situations.
One, the continuance of the pregnancy would involve a risk to the life of the pregnant woman or of grave injury of physical or mental health, or
Two, there is a substantial risk that if the child were born, it would suffer from such physical or mental abnormalities as to be seriously handicapped.
